Orlando Magic Community Endowment Helps Support African-American Businesses

Newsroom >>
As Orlando’s National Basketball Association franchise since 1989, the Orlando Magic has impacted the local community through its volunteer service and donations of more than $2 million dollars annually through sponsorships of events, donated tickets, autographed merchandise, scholarships, and grants. “We have long enjoyed the community partnership shared with the Orlando Magic,” notes Ronald Rogers, Chamber Chairman. “We are also elated that our Orlando NBA team has heightened its support to serve as the Chamber’s first Founding Trustee member,” says Dr. Robert M. Spooney, Chamber Executive Director. “They have clearly proven a commitment to growth and development of minority businesses and I am pleased that this corporate alliance will help us maintain a progression in implementing new and enhanced services for our members,” he adds.

As a Founding Trustee Member, the Orlando Magic’s $75,000 contribution over the next three years will help provide resources to strengthen growth and economic development opportunities for Chamber members.

“We are committed to creating opportunities and investing in our community,” said Vice President of Community Relations and Government Affairs Linda Landman-Gonzalez. “Through this commitment, we have developed and enhanced our relationships with organizations that economically impact Central Florida, such as the African-American Chamber.”
